I'm back

from a heavenly trip to the Uintahs.  Last weekend we went up to Rhett's family cabin that they have been building themselves for 15-20 years.  As you'll see....we weren't camping.  The cabin is so nice even though it is still in the process of being finished.  I have been wanting to go fishing for so long and this trip was just what I needed.  I didn't want to leave!  I could have stayed there for a week!  Everything was so beautiful.  One of the best things about camping is being away from technology or even just cell phones.  Technology is a great tool but every now and again it's refreshing to go for a weekend just enjoying the surroundings.

A couple days before the trip, we all went shopping and of course bought too much food.  We planned meals out and had delicious food.  Saturday we went fishing at Mirror Lake (which it seems like everyone camping in the Uintahs was there) and had a blast.  We caught lots of fish (Jess & Rhett kept 2) and got some awesome burn lines...well just the girls got those.

After a day of fishing I still wanted to fish more.  The boys decided to go fishing early the next day and I was all for it.  We woke up at 5am realizing it was still quite dark then left at about 6am.  We drove to Lily Lake which was quite close the cabin to then drive up the bumpiest, rockiest, head jerking road I've ever been on.  Needless to say when we got to the lake it was absolutely gorgeous.  We were the only ones there and it was so quite and relaxing.  There were actually lily pads on the end of the lake, a mama duck with a trail of little ducks following her,  and the joys of gazillion bugs.  I had a hat with a hoodie zipped all the way up and that hood on top of my hat hoping it would help keep the bugs out.  I was wrong...they still seemed to be able to get in my hoodie as I try and fish and blow the bugs out of my face.

I wish that after all the trouble dealing with Lily Lake we could have caught a fish but we didn't.  The boys decided to go but I didn't want to stop fishing.  Coming back down from the lake Rhett said he couldn't not catch a fish.  We went to Butterfly Lake to then find out we couldn't catch any fish there either.  The only way we did is that Justin put salmon eggs on my hook (we had been fishing with flies before).

Now that I've written a book I will share some pictures.  I'm not a real lovey gushy person but I realized during this trip that it made me love Justin more than I ever have.  He took care of me putting flies on my line and getting the fish off my hook when I couldn't get them off.   Not that we argue all the time but we didn't get upset with each other at all.  We just enjoyed being together.  The next morning being home I went to let Ruca out and just sat outside for 15-20 minutes listening to the birds...wishing I was back in the mountains and the simplistic life.

I can see why you'd want to stay! You've taken some beautiful pictures of the area, cabin and family.

The pics and the lake and trees remind me so much of Colorado. It is hard to find that look in Utah. Mirror Lake, Uintahs do look a lot like here. We have the trees and the lake right in our back yard. You are all welcome.. and OH can I tell you how many fish..There are so many, you always catch 3 or more..
